March 27, 2008 - Delzon Ellenburg, President of Fountain Quail Water Management LLC, Aqua-Pure's Texas subsidiary, announced today that the Company has signed a letter of intent with the City of Weatherford to purchase 2 million gallons per day of treated effluent from the City for re-sale to oil companies in the area. This water will be combined with fresh water produced by the Company's recycling facilities and used by the oil companies to fracture their Barnett Shale gas wells.
The Company has obtained preliminary approval from the Texas Railroad Commission and the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality for it's proposed plan to distribute the fresh water and collect the flow back and produced water by pipeline for recycling.
The Company has completed the preliminary design and has obtained cost estimates for the project and is now focused on signing up customers in the target area.
Once the minimum number of customers are secured detailed engineering will begin and detailed plans will be submitted to both regulating agencies for final approval.
The Company expects to begin detailed engineering within a month and could begin construction as early as August 2008.
The combined volume of water from Weatherford and the Company's recycling facilities will be enough to fracture 150 to 180 wells per year depending on the amount of water required by the oil companies for these jobs.
Director of Utilities for the City of Weatherford, Kraig Kahler described the effluent as a resource that currently runs into the town creek. Sending it instead to Fountain Quail would reduce the amount of potable water being used by gas production companies.
"That could take some of the truck traffic off city streets because they won't be drawing so much water from the fire hydrants." Kahler said "It also could reduce the need of groundwater wells at gas drilling sites".
